Over the summer of 2018 we took a project to fully restore an 1950's cabin that had not been maintained since 1970. The project entailed foundation work, re-siding, restoring all the windows, rebuilding a porch and painting the whole structure.
Upon assessing the scope of work, we noticed that one of the original foundation beams had been a victim of carpenter ant destruction.
In order to remediate the wall, we came up with an affordable yet effective solution. We built beams with treated lumber and anchored them in concrete. We made sure to level every surface to avoid strain of the windows.
We then insulated, put Tyvek paper, treated 3/4" plywood and re-sided with cedar.
Re-siding the cabin was a major undertaken. We had to carefully remove the cedar shingles that were is severe need of replacement. Given the cost of cedar, we made sure to only replace the material that truly needed replacement. There were a several difficult angles and tight places that made integration with the old material challenging.
Then came window restoration. 90% of the windows required rebuilt and finish.
We also rebuilt a front porch that was completely rotten. The structure had to be supported with concrete, joists had to be replaced and a new decking was installed.
We selected Tiger Wood Decking for its beauty and durability.
We finished the whole cabin with our own mix of a durable finish...
